Happy Sunday Dolls and Gents!

Looking for an extra way to earn some cash? Do you have over a gazillion clothes in your closet that you don't even wear? Are you turning into a hoarder? Well this post is just for you! This past weekend my family and I had a yard sale and it was very successful!
Each one of my family members including myself raided their closets and their rooms to find things that we simply didn't have use for anymore. Clothes, furniture, décor, etc. It was so much fun doing a little "fall" cleaning and making a little extra cash in the process. In this post, I'll be explaining how YOU can have your own little fun yard sale.

Have it on a weekend

It is best if you have a yard sale on a Friday or Saturday. That is when the streets are most busy with traffic. On Fridays everyone is getting off work and trying to get home. They may be even stuck in a little 5 o'clock traffic and have to take a different route. That route may just be in front of your house! You definitely want to have it on a Saturday if you're looking to make a lot of profit. Most people and families go out on Saturdays, not in particular looking for a yard sale, but just to be out in general. While they're on their way to the mall, they could stop by and spend a little cash at your yard sale.

Check the Weather

Do not have a yard sale and it's 55 and below outside. I personally wouldn't have one if it was 65 and below but I just hate cold weather. You don't want it to be too cold outside because 1) you'll get a cold just from doing so much to sit the stuff out, put up signs, etc. and 2) a good amount of people in this world hate cold weather and don't want to risk getting out of their warm cars just to walk through a yard sale. Use the weather channel app or check your local news station to see the weather forecast. Remember, cold is a no-no, hot weather equals possible profits.

Purchase Posters and Supplies

Go to your local Dollar Tree, Hobby Lobby, or supply store and buy lots and lots of posters and markers. I suggest using a jumbo sharpie for signs you want to get a lot of attention! Also, use many posters of different colors (Neons are great!). Buy white posters of course, but also buy other colors that are going to catch the attention of potential customers. Advertise, advertise, advertise!

Price Reasonably

You are not the mall or the department store. If you paid $50 for a shirt that you don't wear anymore and you price it for $50 in your yard sale, who do you think is going to buy it? No one. This is a yard sale. You don't have to price everything as $1, but at least price at what you think it's worth and not what you actually paid for it. When pricing furniture, its reasonable to price within the range that you paid for it. If you bought a vase for $15, its okay to price it for $12 or $10. If you bought a recliner for $100, its reasonable to price it for $50 or $45. Think about it. You've done probably some of everything in that chair depending on how long you've had it.

Don't Sell Just ANYTHING!

Please do NOT sell ANY of your undergarments. Who wants those, really? Do not sell clothes or furniture with stains, tears or holes in them unless you plan to price them for "cheap cheap" like $5 or below for clothes and $20 or below for furniture. No one likes stains. Remember, your yard sale is a representation of YOU.

Start Early

You can start as early as 6 a.m. but my suggestion is to start when the sun has completely risen into the sky. You don't want to start a yard sale at the crack of dawn although you could but it would be still kind of dark. We set up around 8 a.m. and started around 9 a.m. If you set up in your home what you're going to set out the night before your yard sale then the set up in the yard should be fairly easy.

Be Patient

You're going to get a lot of people to pump their brakes, look, and keep driving. You're going to get many people to drive by and come back. Be patient. People will come. Don't panic.

End Early

I suggest to end your yard sale as soon as the sun starts to set. It is very dangerous to have yard sales at night even if you're not having a yard sale alone (which I do NOT suggest. Get a partner to have your yard sale. Ask a best buddie or a family member.)

I hope this post inspire you to have a very successful yard sale one day! If you have any questions feel free to comment! I love reading your comments and responding to you guys! Until next time, inspire and be inspired!
